Emergency and disaster declaration

A disaster declaration covering Oconee County is to be addressed during an emergency meeting this morning of the Oconee County Council.  The meeting is planned for 10 o’clock in the council chambers, but will not be open to public attendance because of the pandemic.  Interested members of the public, however, may watch the meeting live on the county’s YouTube channel, which can be accessed through the county’s website.  You may call in to listen by dialing 888/475-4499 or 877/853-5257 and enter ID # 985 3020 9561.  Those who park in the vicinity of council chambers may listen on FM 92.3.  An emergency and disaster declaration requires one and only reading by a governing authority.  Most residents of Millbrook subdivision, hard hit by the tornado, were restored last night with electrical power service.  Photographs are circulating showing major damage to the Seneca home development Crosscreek.
