Electronic sign could make Walhalla more transparent

In general, one of Walhalla’s newest councilmen believes the city can become more transparent with its business by posting important messages on a sign placed strategically where most people could see it.  Grant Keehn made his feelings known during this week’s city hall meeting, and supplemented those feelings with his hope that a more transparent city government can have the effect of better engaging the citizenry.  But where the sign would best serve its purpose was a debate among city leaders which ended inconclusively.  Existing signs at Sertoma Field and at the swimming pool were mentioned, as locations where many Walhallans and visitors to the city pass.  Keehn asked about the possibility of a corner lot downtown, at Main and N. Katherine that has been used for a number of city sponsored outdoor events.  But Mayor Danny Edwards says the property is privately-owned and may have changed hands during the recent transaction involving the sale of the Bountyland convenience store chain.
