Electric power service restored to Westminster

The lights have returned to Westminster, and its electric power customers are likely to say not a moment too soon.  From around 8 o’clock in the morning to around midnight, Tuesday was a very long and frustrating day for customers and city officials.  Outside help was required to replace an old transformer with a spare one. The city’s outside consultant, Richard Tucker, attributed the problems to a lack of preventive maintenance, but he complimented the city’s elected officials with the foresight to have acquired a backup transformer.  But, as Tucker explained, there were delays in ensuring the transformer was in proper working order before service was restored.
