Election results certified, no change in outcomes

The Seneca voting results from Tuesday are now official, by action of the county elections board. Four challenged ballots were added to the totals during a certification meeting today of the board, chaired by Flo Riley. But those additions made no change in the order of finish announced on Tuesday night. Meaning W-C Honeycutt Jr. is the official winner of the fourth city council seat. Honeycutt officially finished with 358 votes. Incumbent Stuart Pohl’s official total is 349—Honeycutt’s winning margin nine votes. Joy Scharich, elections director, also announced that Pohl, in writing, had waived his right to an automatic recount, to which he was entitled, as Honeycutt’s winning margin was less than one percent of the votes cast. The board accepted the addition of four challenged ballots, but denied a fifth ballot because, as Scharich explained, the voter failed to come forth by this morning’s 11 o’clock with proof of proper address.
