Edna Freeman

Walhalla- Edna Earl White Freeman, 84, wife of the late Willie “Jack” Jackson Freeman Sr., passed away May 28th, 2021 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

 

Named after Edna Earl, the heroine in Augusta Jane Evans’s 1866 novel, St. Elmo, Edna Earl White Freeman was born in Tamassee, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late

John Wesley White Sr. and Mary Susan “Sudie” Edgar White. Edna was a retired seamstress in the family’s upholstery shop, and had a great love for gospel music and was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Edna is the last surviving member of her immediate family.

 

Edna is survived by her three sons, JR Freeman and wife Jane of Westminster, Bobby Freeman and wife Tracy of Seneca, Greg Freeman of Walhalla; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna is preceded in death by daughters, Judy Freeman and Sharon Freeman; two brothers, and four sisters.

 

A Graveside Service will be held 11am, Monday, May 31st, 2021 at First Baptist Memorial Park.
