Earl Hunnicutt

Westminster – Henry Earl Hunnicutt, 80, husband of Esther Diane Lee Hunnicutt, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence.

 

Born in Long Creek, South Carolina, Earl was the son of the late James Will Hunnicutt and Isa Phillips Hunnicutt.  Earl attended Long Creek Elementary, attended Westminster High School, and retired from Beacon Manufacturing where he had many friends. Earl was a member of Woodman of The World, Westminster Masonic Lodge, and Damascus Baptist Church.  Earl was a former Fireman and Fire Chief with The Long Creek Fire Department, State Constable for Oconee County and a past Deacon at Long Creek Baptist Church.  Earl was known as a jack of all trades for the Long Creek Community.  He loved Southern Gospel Music, his family unconditionally and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

 

Earl is survived by the love of his life, his loving wife of 55 years; daughters, Dawn H. Smith (Michael), Kelli H. Morton (Jeff); brother, James Hunnicutt (Jean) of Long Creek, SC; sisters, Katherine Thrasher of Liberty, SC, Doris Moon of Blue Ridge, SC, Mildred Wilbanks of Mountain Rest, SC ; cherished grandchildren, Christopher Morton, Julie Smith Taylor (Aaron), Austin Smith; great-granddaughter, Hazley-Mae Taylor; special friends, Richard Lizardi family; and his special companions, Cocoa, his dog, Charlie, his cat, Nestor, Suzie; grand-dogs,  Remi Joe, Buster,  Bugz; many nieces and nephews that he was very proud of; and too many close friends to name.   

 

In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by 7 grandchildren, brother-in-laws, Joe Moon, Clem Wilbanks, Edward Thrasher; and mother-in-law, Bertha O’Kelley.

 

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 pm, Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Heritage Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
