Duncan bill opposes closing Guantanamo penal facility

Third District Rep. Jeff Duncan has announced legislation to prevent the transfer or release of prisoners kept at the Naval Station at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and is worried that, in the change of administrations, it’s possible the holding facility will be closed and, as Duncan puts it, some of the “most dangerous enemy combatants captured” by the U-S military”  He’s further worried that the detainees could be moved to the mainland, such as the Charleston Brig in South Carolina.  Duncan has support from the state’s coastal House member, Nancy Mace, who says, “These terrorists are the worst of the worst and should not be held on American soil.”
