Duke programs target electric vehicle markets

Duke Energy is announcing new investments in the market of electric vehicles.  The utility company will install and operate 60 fast chargers across its South Carolina territories that’ll feature power output of 100 kilowatts or more and will offer up to a total of $1 thousand for 400 residential Duke customers who install a Level 2 charging station, provide access to their charging data, and manage the charging load of electric vehicles during off-peak periods.  The idea is to capture economic benefits of moving transportation fuel from gasoline to electric.  “Electric vehicles are coming to South Carolina, but more investment is needed to grow the adoption of this evolving technology and the benefits it brings to the state,” said Mike Callahan, Duke’s South Carolina president.
