Dr. Thorsland takes encouragement

Of late, the spread of COVID-19 to Oconee school children, teachers, and other staff has decreased.  And, even though the cumulative numbers of cases within the district recently topped one thousand for the first two and a half months of the year, district officials have detected a significant downward trend.  The following statement arrived this morning from Dr. Thorsland, district superintendent:  “With just a couple days left in October, we have had less than a quarter of the cases we did in August.  We are glad to begin to open up a few more opportunities for students, including some after school activities at the elementary level, field trips, and our 3rd grade water safety program at the YMCA.  We will continue to carefully monitor COVID cases in our schools and will make adjustments, if needed.  We appreciate our staff, parents, and community for their continued support.”
