Downtown Seneca to be transformed for the season

It was evident last night at Seneca that Scott Moulder, the city administrator, embraces the spirit of Clark Griswold, the main character in the National Lampoon Christmas Vacation movie. It’s still weeks before Thanksgiving, but Moulder delighted the mayor and council when he announced that city crews this Friday, October 1 will start the task of installing the more than one million lights that the downtown is becoming known for during Christmas season.  It doesn’t mean those lights will be turned on this Friday.  The lights are to shine starting one week before Thanksgiving Day, November 25.  It’s just that stringing a million lights takes quite a while.  With glee in his eyes, Moulder announced that Seneca’s official Christmas tree will be even taller this year.  He’s saving another announcement for later—an announcement Moulder says will create “huge surprise” and be welcomed by “kids of all ages.”
