DOT proposes I-85 bridge replacements

The DOT proposes to spend hundreds of millions of dollars statewide to replace bridges on the interstate highways, including two sets of bridges in Oconee County.  The Department of Transportation invites public comment on the projects including $33.3 million dollars of work to replace the I-85 northbound and southbound bridges over Lake Hartwell and $26.2 million to replace the I-85 northbound and southbound bridges over Fair Play Creek.   According to the plan, announced today in Columbia, the projects are being recommended for the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) “and subsequently programmed for design and construction based on available funding.”
