DOROTHY SMITH
Westminster- Dorothy “Dot” Irene Lyle Smith, 86, wife of the late Herman Richard Smith, passed away Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Oconee County, South Carolina, Dot was the daughter of the late Jesse Christopher Lyle and Mary Irene Petty Lyle. Dot retired from Sangamo and was a member of Ole Country Church. Dot enjoyed gardening, and canning, her greatest love was her church and her family.
Dot is survived by her sons, Richard Smith (Nancy) of Travelers Rest and Roger Smith of Westminster; sisters, Louise Kelley, Ruth Blackwell, and Jane McClain; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dot was preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Faye Smith; brother, Willis “Bud” Lyle; and her sisters, Mary Lou Lyle, Hazel Lee, Juanita Lyle, Earline Brucke, and Ruby Culp.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, October 28, 2022, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to Keowee Dialysis Center and Kindred Hospice, for the love and care that was shown to Dot.
