Dorothy Mann

Seneca– Dorothy Louise Sharpe Mann, 91, widower of the late William C. Mann of 50 years, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 8 at Belvedere Commons of Seneca.

 

Born in Fairfield County, South Carolina she was the daughter of the late Lillie and BC Sharpe. In her early life, Dorothy worked in textiles and retail, she was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Senior Life Group. She was a prayer warrior, praying fervently for family, friends, and those in-need, she set an example and never altered in her life as a Christian and Faith in God. This guided her in the reading of bible scriptures, prayer, and worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Dorothy enjoyed watching old western movies, reading, sewing, growing flowers, and being with family and friends. In her 91 years of life, Mrs. Mann has spread so much love and has impacted the lives of many people. She has made a multitude of friends along the way, many in her life that became her “family”, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was known as Mom, Grandma, Grandma Mann, Granny, Dumpy and Aunt Dot. She will always be remembered for her special dessert Banana Pudding, and a collector of many things, including teapots, angels and coins.

 

Dorothy was a loving mother to Robert E. McCaston (Susan) of Seneca; William R (Butch)McCaston (Lori) of Tempe, AZ; Vera Tite (Dexter) of Toccoa, GA. A loving sister to Edward Sharpe (Sandra) of West Columbia, SC and Beverly Kraus of Clinton, IN. Dorothy was a loving grandmother to Kimberly Lamb (Brian) of Pickens, SC, Robert C. (Carl) McCaston (Lourdes) of Lompoc, CA, Guy Wasko (Rebecca) of New York, NY, Brett Wasko (Crystal) of Roca, NE, Ryan Natale of Maysville, GA, Athena DeWalt (Jason) and Micah Natale (Kristen) all of Adairsville, GA, Casey Galloway (Chris Graham) of Seneca, SC, Erin Kirton (Jospeh) of Travelers Rest, SC,  and Barron Brower (Heather) of Landrum, SC; great-grandmother of 20, and great great-grandmother of 8 and  special family friends to Marie and Tony Kidd, Diane and John Baron, and  Kenny Yanez.

 

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Clemmer and Wayne Sharpe, and a sister, Joyce Finney.

 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, June 13th, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends and family 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday June 12th, 2023 at Sandifer Funeral Home.

 

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Belvedere Commons for their love, compassion, excellent care and support for Mrs. Mann during her residency and illness. Mrs. Mann welcomed them into her heart as family.

 

The family is at their respective homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dorothy’s memory may be made to New Hope Baptist Church, 4010 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
