Done deal ensures the magistrate to get new home

Oconee’s chief magistrate Will Derrick is in line to get away from his cramped courtroom and offices in downtown Westminster. Julian Davis, County Council chairman, says the county has closed on a deal to buy a former E. Main Street church building and property and convert it for the magistrate and his needs. 101.7/WGOG NEWS has learned the county paid the Shriners $121 thousand for the former Gospel Holiness Church brick building and 1.2 acres of property. Davis says Oconee’s offer was accepted by the Shriners as the winning bid.
