Distance learning underway, but there’s a change

The spokeswoman for Oconee public schools, Jennifer Dodd, says the district is pleased with the start of distance learning, in which kids from home by computer are being taught by their teachers.  But there is a change.  Instead of a hookup by the teachers from the empty classrooms, the teachers are connecting online with their students from teacher’s home to student’s home.  It’s another layer of personal safety.  We asked Dodd the following question:  “Is the thinking that, for the safety of the teachers, it’s better for them to do it from their home than actually enter the school buildings?”  Dodd replied, “We’re trying to limit the people in our buildings just for everyone’s safety.”
