Discolored water no health risks — city of Clemson

City of Clemson is experiencing discolored water from the Anderson Regional Joint Water System.  However, the city’s utilities director says there are no health risks associated with the discolored water; nevertheless, the city apologizes to its customers.  Here’s the statement from Benjie McGill, Clemson utilities director:  “Our water supplier, the Anderson Regional Joint Water System, has confirmed a color issue in the drinking water caused by manganese.  Manganese occurs naturally in rocks and soil and can be found in water, food, and air.  Adjustments have been made to the treatment process; however, we may see this event work its way through our system over the next 48-72 hours.  Please know that the water is safe.”
