“Difficult conversations” on hospital care at Toccoa

The newly-appointed hospital CEO in Toccoa, Georgia says the Stephens County Hospital is still there and open for business.  Recently, hospital CEO Van Loskoski sat down with Toccoa Radio WNEG and knocked down rumors that the hospital is closing.  He made this statement:  “Truth of the matter is any rural hospital could close pretty quickly if they are not supported by their community.  We are intent on remaining here, but we are also intent on letting the community know what is going on with our hospital and being transparent, and having these difficult conversations.”  Stephens County Hospital recently made by what’s called a painful, but necessary decision to close its labor and delivery unit.  According to Loskoski, the numbers just weren’t enough to continue that service.
