Details on the Myrtle Beach night for Lucas Watts

Many of his co-workers and friends say they can’t imagine another South Carolina law enforcement officer more deserving of Deputy of the Year than Oconee’s Lucas Watts.  Late last year Corp. Watts nearly lost his life in a shooting while on duty.  The county sheriffs across the state on July 17 at a Myrtle Beach banquet officially named Watts the award winner.  Because of his continued recovery, and on the advice of his doctors, Watts and family were not able to travel to accept the award.  But his brother, Logan, a
SLED agent, accepted the award on his brother’s behalf.
