Democrats strike up the drum for their ticket

Temperatures of near 100 degrees failed to keep Oconee Democrats from their annual fundraiser.  The South Cove Park picnic last evening served as a momentum builder for the party’s eventual ticket in November.  The crowd built slowly for a dinner and entertainment beneath the park pavilion and for the evening’s speakers:  State Representative Gilda Cobb-Hunter of Orangeburg and Hosea Cleveland of Seneca, Third District congressional candidate.  An event open to the general public, the Democrats attracted at least two Republicans who are seeking votes during tomorrow’s GOP primary.  Wilson Burr, candidate for Solicitor, says if Democrats want a say in who is to be next chief prosecutor in Oconee and Anderson counties, they need to vote in tomorrow’s primary.  South Carolina allows cross-party voting in primary elections, and Burr says he’s hoping to benefit from that.  Sandra Jones, candidate for Seat Five, Oconee County Council, also greeted Democrats at their fundraiser.
