Democrat hopeful for governor in Seneca

A Democrat from Charleston County, Joe Cunningham, made downtown Seneca a stop on his 46-county tour of the state to advance his campaign to win his party’s nomination next year for governor.  So far, Joe Cunningham is one of three Democrats to announce.  While he must win his party’s primary next year, Cunningham made to clear in a 101.7/WGOG NEWS interview he’s determined to defeat the state’s incumbent governor, Henry McMaster. A former member of the U-S House from South Carolina’s 1st District, Cunningham said his platform includes expanded Medicaid, legalize marijuana, higher teacher pay, new jobs through industry, and improved infrastructure. The hopeful for governor delivered a message to small business people.  At Ramcat Alley’s Elements for Eastern Design, he heard from business owner Ivy Ellerby on the obstacles that she has had to overcome as a small businesswoman in a time of a world pandemic.
