Defense rests in civil court trial

The defense in the Oconee trial alleging medical malpractice has called its last witness, and now the attorneys for both sides are preparing their final arguments to the jury. Once those arguments are completed, the judge will charge the jury on the law, and it’ll be up to the 12 men and women to make a decision in Hess v. Dr. McGuff and the Oconee Medical Center. The defense called their final witnesses yesterday, in trial day number five. Lake Keowee area resident Camille Hess is the plaintiff in the case. The jury has heard testimony about a stroke to her left eye in 2014 that left her unable to see out of that one eye, as well as testimony about her emergency room visit the morning of June 6 that year.
