Day of reckoning for sewer officials

You might say it’s a day of reckoning for those officials who set the policies by which the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority does business.  Especially considering that a 20% rate increase for the municipal members is the major topic for this afternoon’s meeting of the JRSA board of commissioners. A 20% increase in the charge that Seneca, Walhalla, and Westminster pay to treat their sewage is liable to have a corresponding effect on the cities’ charges to their retail customers.  Part of today’s agenda includes a period for the public to comment on the schedule of fees.  The meeting is set for 4 o’clock at the Westminster Historic Railroad Depot on Main Street in that city.   At that same meeting location at 5:30 pm, the annual members meeting of the JRSA will take place.  The mayors and council members who attend are scheduled to receive a “State of the OJRSA” from Chris Eleazer, the executive director.
