Danger: grounds are saturated

A brighter sky is lifting the water-logged spirits today, but there remains a real public safety risk.  The highway patrol points out  thoroughly soaked grounds enhance the possibility of falling trees–such as the one that fell yesterday and took one person’s life.  The patrol’s Joe Hovis reminds everyone that many roads, especially in the upstate, remain covered by water and drivers should stay away from them until the waters recede.  One of the worst spots is SC 183 in Pickens, alongside the now flooded Pickens Flea Market.
