Damaging report predicted on animal control

A volunteer for the Oconee Humane Society, Kris Morris, is telling fellow volunteers in the group that a damaging evaluation report on county animal control operations has been released and the society’s board of directors is working with the sheriff’s office and pressing for significant change.  Morris said, “As an Oconee Humane Society (OHS) volunteer, you know that we are not part of Oconee County Animal Control and that OHS has no participation in their operations.  All intake and outcome operations are handled by Oconee County Animal Control, a division of the Oconee Sheriff’s Department. However, since we occupy a portion of the shelter facility to voluntarily help homeless pets get a second chance, some people in our community will see us as one group.  Some may even assume we were aware of these troubling allegations.  We were not!…”
