Cross town move ahead for the United Way

The organization in the business of advancing the common good in Oconee County will pack its bags in the next year to move to a part of the community in need.  LaShauna Harrison, the local executive director, last night announced that Oconee United Way will abandon its suite of 123 By-Pass offices for a spot in Seneca’s Blue Ridge Community Center in Perry Hill.  There, Harrison says, it situates United Way close to Utica, the former textile community hit hard by last year’s tornado and remains beset by crime, economic and other problems.  Harrison’s announcement came last night during the local United Way’s Emerald celebration, 55 years in the community filling needs.
