Critical Race Theory debated at meeting

A Seneca woman urged the Oconee school trustees to further the idea of inclusion and diversity in the county district.  Jody Gaulin registered her comments during the audience part in last night’s meeting, and called attention to last month’s controversy over CRT—Critical Race Theory which district officials have said isn’t being taught in their district and won’t be.  Gaulin conceded that the strong opposition to CRT scared her, but has since decided she wants her differing viewpoint to be heard.  She requested the trustees to require their staff to be mindful of inclusion and diversity.  She was followed to the lectern by Luke Moore, a strong opponent to CRT.  Moore spoke out against government restrictions on individual freedoms, got into a brief argument with another audience member, before being temporarily escorted from the meeting room by a sheriff’s office.
