Criminal charges arise from home fire
Oconee Sheriff’s Office seeks the public’s help to locate Terry Brandon Ramey, who deputies encountered during the night at a home on Sweetbriar Trail, south of the Blackjack Road. According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went to the home on a welfare check — this after a deputy earlier tried to place 44-year-old Ramey in custody. A female was removed from the home; however, according to the sheriff’s office, Ramey pointed a rifle at a deputy and set fire to curtains in the bedroom. The fire grew, requiring firefighters to put a stop to it. The sheriff’s office says a thorough check of the home was made. No bodies or human remains were found. The following charges against Ramey are pending: resisting arrest, second degree arson, pointing and presenting a firearm, and resisting arrest with a deadly weapon. If you have information on the whereabouts of Terry Brandon Ramey, call 911. If you see him, do not approach and consider him to be dangerous.
