Crime numbers are kind to Walhalla

One of the factors that lead people to consider Walhalla a pleasant place is its low crime rate.  There are numbers circulating on the internet to bear this out. Police Chief Brinson calls attention to the website safewise.com which lays out crime numbers assembled by the FBI.  The latest year reflected by the numbers is 2020, and Brinson says they show that Walhalla worked its way up from being the 12th safest South Carolina city or town to number 8.  In 2020, there were no homicides in Oconee’s second-largest city.  Brinson also says property crimes, including burglaries, were fewer.  He gives credit to a pro-active approach taken by his officers.
