COVID shuts down the Oconee Courthouse

Oconee’s Clerk of Court, Lisa Burton, confirms this morning that no walk-in business is being allowed at the county courthouse in Walhalla, and the reason is COVID-19-related.  It’s a temporary closing of the building that contains the various civil, criminal, and family courts.  “Our goal at the present time is to re-open on Monday, March 29th or, in the alternative, no later than Thursday, April 1st,” Burton says. Notwithstanding, the drive-thru will operate 8:30 am to 5 pm the rest of the week for filings, as well as all other Clerk of Court business.  You can reach the courthouse by phone at 864/638-4280. The clerk adds this:  “our main objective at this time is to serve the citizens of Oconee County with as little inconvenience as possible.”
