COVID-19 testing in South Carolina exceeds five million

South Carolina COVID tests now exceed five million, and DHEC says it shows that state residents are continuing to do their part and follow the recommended actions for protecting public health during the pandemic.  South Carolina test numbers are reported to be increasing significantly and include nearly 59% more people tested for the first time since November and 73% more South Carolinians who have now been tested more than once.  DHEC continues to urge South Carolinians who are regularly out in the community to get tested at least once a month, if not more often.  Currently, there are more than 300 South Carolina test locations.  All DHEC-sponsored locations use pain-free nose or mouth swabs.  COVID-19 vaccines are being given in the state, but the vaccine supply remains limited both in the state and across the country.  By yesterday, South Carolina had received around 777 thousand vaccine.  Nearly 440 thousand shots had been given and 382 thousand appointments had been scheduled.
