County officials take hope from meeting with developers

A one-hour meeting this morning at Seneca did not resolve the annexation issue, but Oconee County leaders who participated are taking encouragement. The meeting took place in the office of the county Economic Alliance on the 123 By-Pass. There apparently will be follow up to today’s meeting during county council’s two regularly scheduled March meetings. The first of which will be this Tuesday night when Councilman Julian Davis says there will be a report made during executive session. County Administrator Scott Moulder thinks that an additional incentive package for the developers of the Lakeside Lodge condominiums can be ready for a county council vote at council’s second meeting in March, scheduled for the 20th. “I take the communication this morning and the willingness to sit down and discuss the future of Lakeside Lodge as a bonus and is a positive,” Moulder told 101.7/WGOG NEWS. Council’s March timeline aside, it’s believed the annexation proposal will be an item for the agenda of the Clemson City Council this Monday night. Both Moulder and Davis say that was not discussed at this morning’s meeting, although Davis says annexation ordinance require two separate votes before they can be approved.
