Councilwoman wants more talk about bus service

A Walhalla councilwoman says some Walhallans would welcome CATBus to their city; others, she says, would not.  Last night Sarai Melendez implored her city council colleagues to have a discussion on whether the extension of CATBus service is something that would be worth the money.  After years of talk about the possibility of bus service for Walhalla, Melendez says it’s now time to either pursue the project or abandon it.  She got some reaction from a few of her colleagues.  Mayor Edwards says a study would be a pre-requisite for any decision to acquire bus service.  Councilman David Underwood said he’d be open to hear a presentation from, for example, Seneca’s Ed Halbig.  Councilman Josh Roberts questioned whether the two-lane Main Street downtown could handle large buses.
