Cort Joseph Blauvelt Aber

Mountain Rest- Cort Joseph Blauvelt Aber, 67, husband of the late Susan Julia Staal, passed away, May 26, 2020, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in East Orange, NJ, he grew up in Clinton, NJ, Syracuse, NY and Carlisle, PA. Cort graduated from Carlisle High School and attended Harrisburg College. He brightened the lives of all he knew with his interesting conversation and “spell binding” hand gestures. He was an expert gardener and filled his pantry with nutritious food with which he prepared gourmet treats for his vast number of friends.

He so loved Mother Nature that he captured and relocated venomous reptiles. His philosophy was to “hug a tree”, “kiss a flower”, but leave iguanas alone.

As President of Carolina Log Homes of Clemson, his creations were of beauty and elegance.

He was a member of the best loved band in Clemson, and with his congas and beautiful voice, he made people smile and dance. He was an avid reader and enthusiastic fisherman.

Cort is survived by his sister Judith Graham, and faithful dogs Blue and Astro.

In addition to his and parents, Cort is preceded in death by his wife and soulmate, Susan Julia Staal.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Cort’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be expressed online by visiting www.sandiferfuneralhome.com.
