Coroner eyes next term as his last

Among those who will make New Year’s resolutions of intentions are those men and women whose elected offices expire in the next year. The office of Oconee County coroner is one of many that county voters will be asked to fill in 2020. The man who has held that office for 28 years, Karl Addis of Walhalla, says he will be a candidate for re-election. But should he be successful this next term, he says, will be his last. Another county officeholder who faces a political decision is the long-time clerk of court, Beverly Whitfield. Last week Whitfield told 101.7/WGOG NEWS she has yet to make up her mind as to whether she’ll run again.
