Continual gas pump price increases

Like many of us, the area’s state senator is not immune to the impact of steep gas pump prices.  Thomas Alexander, the Walhallan who now presides as president of the senate, used the word “unbelievable” to describe the impact on South Carolina motorists who are having to pay above the $4 dollar a gallon mark for regular.  Unfortunately, today’s increase of 15 cents seen this afternoon at several Oconee County gas pumps won’t be the last one that will be felt in the coming weeks.  On July 1, South Carolina will raise its gas tax an additional two centers–from 26 to 28 cents a gallon.  This, however, is going to be the final increase in the state’s motor fuel use tax, as part of a 2017 state law that raises the fee by two centers each July until this July 2022.
