Construction worker killed in industrial plant accident

An accident at an Anderson County manufacturing plant took the life yesterday afternoon of a construction worker.  Coroner Greg Shore says the victim, Felix Esqiulin Pomales, was working for a Wisconsin contractor on a building at the First Quality plant in Anderson when a large steel beam toppled over and struck him.  At the time, Pomales was trying to bolt that beam to another large beam.  He was 35 years old and lived in Charlotte.  He died at the scene of blunt force trauma.  The construction worker’s death is being investigated by the coroner’s office and the South Carolina office of “OSHA.”
