Construction permit for Fair Play/I-85 sewer

Perhaps as early this week the state will be asked to permit Oconee County’s long-talked about project to bring piped sewer to Fair Play and the nearby I-85 highway.  On behalf of the county and the Joint Regional Sewer Authority, the formal application will be sent by an engineering firm, Davis and Floyd.  Of late, surveyors have been seen along the county’s four-mile stretch of the interstate, and the JRSA’s Chris Eleazer confirms that they ran into a gully, around which it’ll be necessary to divert the line.  How they’ll avoid that gully is explained by Eleazer in comments that are airing today on 101.7/WGOG NEWS.  Once the permit application is filed with DHEC, property owners along the line route will be contacted to request they grant easements for the digging of the line.  And once completed, the sewer line project will allow service from the county’s Golden Corner Commerce Park to the interstate highway, where there is about four miles of property envisioned for commercial and manufacturing development.
