Computer error plagued the South Carolina Lottery

A computer system program error affected the South Carolina Education Lottery on Christmas Day.  Impacted were the Holiday Cash Add-A-Play tickets, a $1 terminal-generated instant game.  From 5:51 pm to 7:53 pm, the same play symbol was repeated in the available play areas on tickets that would result in a top prize of $500 dollars.  No more than five identical play symbols should appear for a single play.  According to the lottery, as soon as the issue was identified, the Add-A-Play game was suspended and an investigation  begun.  Instant (scratch) tickets and all other lottery games were unaffected by the computer error.  All players who bought Holiday Cash Add-A-Play tickets during the affected time Christmas Day are advised to hold onto their tickets until the review is completed.
