Community makes generous contributions to hospital project

The emergency department at the Prisma Oconee hospital is located on the west side of the building. But often a hospital emergency department is what many patients see first. And the local community is well aware, as attested to in a report heard last night by the Holdings Board at the Oconee Memorial Hospital. Cortni Nations says so far $619 thousand has been collected or pledged to Hospital Foundation, toward the foundation’s fund raising goal of $1 million. The plan is to triple the size of the emergency department. As Chief Operating Officer Kome told us, the Oconee emergency department saw 42 thousand patients. Nations believes the project will finally get underway some time during the hospital’s next fiscal year—between October this year and September next year.
