Clemson suicide prevention initiative this weekend

Clemson faculty and students will gather on Saturday for their annual Out of Darkness Campus Walk. The event serves as a fundraiser and the chance for the community to raise awareness of mental health issues related to suicide. You can register for the walk starting at 11 am in front of Tillman Hall. Out of Darkness walks are so named by the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention because of their ability to bring a taboo topic such as suicide “out in the open” so that it can be discussed. About 200 people attended last year’s walk, which raised more than $7 thousand for the South Carolina chapter of the AFSP and the AFSP at large for research on effective suicide prevention methods.
