Clemson students win an astronaut scholarship

An experiment in a physics lab led a Clemson University student from the Anderson County town of Williamston to research in low-temperature physics.  Maggie Marte now has gained national recognition as a 2024 Astronaut Scholar.  It’s awarded to exceptional undergraduate students pursuing degrees in “STEM” — science, technology, engineering and math.  Marte tested a sample’s electric resistance at very low temps.  As her sample cooled, the resistance remained the same before suddenly dropping.
