Clemson plans for Black History Month

Individual honors and a virtual breakfast are in the city of Clemson plans for its Black History Month.  The Pickens County city is basing its theme for the observance as “Honoring Our Past, Celebrating Our Present, and Planning Our Future.”  This month current and past members of the Clemson community will be honored for contributions to the betterment of Clemson and surrounding area.  Each Thursday on the city website those individuals will be recognized in proclamations presented by Mayor Robert Halfacre.  Friday morning, February 19 the Clemson Area African American Museum will host a Black History Month Virtual Breakfast.  The museum plans a fireside chat February 23 with Dr. Ashra Kwesi, an historian and lecturer on ancient African history and religion.  Clemson University this month also hosts programs based on its theme “Black Lives:  Justice, Truth, and Nothing But”.
