Clemson House implosion set for December 3

“At 8:30 a.m. Sunday, December 3, a series of small explosions will pulverize columns on the first, third and fifth floors of the Clemson House at Clemson University, and what remains of the building will collapse as it succumbs to gravity.”  That’s the start of Clemson’s official announcement that the landmark since 1950 will soon be no more, and the property eventually will become a green space and parking area.  Officials on the morning of December 3 will, for safety purposes, restrict access to an “exclusion zone” around the building.  It indicates an area where people are not to be outside of their building during the implosion to ensure they are not exposed to noise levels that would exceed OSHA regulations.  There will be no parking within the exclusion zone after 4:30 Friday afternoon, December 1.  Once the streets are cleaned after the implosion, parking will be allowed.  The best view is likely to be online, where it will be streamed live at Clemson.edu/tv/live.
