City judge to pursue county judge office

Danny Singleton, a long-time municipal court judge in Oconee County, made his official declaration yesterday that he will offer for the office of Oconee County Probate Judge, during this year’s elections.  Singleton will seek the Republican nomination for the office, now held by Ashley Rice.  At the age of 21, in 1990, Singleton started a career in law enforcement as a Westminster policeman.  In his capacity at Seneca Municipal Court, he’s proud of his accomplishment as president of the South Carolina Summary Court Judges’ Association.  The organization has responsibility for the majority of training of summary court judges.  He makes the following pledges should he win the office of probate judge:  “I pledge to uphold the oath of judicial office; I pledge to comply with the five Cannon’s, the Judicial Code of Conduct; I pledge to always be fair, neutral and detached in all matters before the court; I pledge to work diligently to move cases, including estate matters, through the probate court efficiently to ensure a proper disposition in a timely manner.”
