Churches rely increasingly on social media

The virus notwithstanding, it’s a sign of the times that churches of today more and more are relying on the internet to broadcast services. Our national emergency makes this an opportune time for Oconee churches to reach their congregants online. David Shirley, director of missions for the Beaverdam Baptist Association, this afternoon counted 25 churches that will suspend indoor services this weekend and place their services online. Shirley is aware of two churches that will try to hold drive-up services in which their members can sit in their cars in the parking lot and listen to their service broadcast outside of the sanctuaries.
