Christine Chavez walks in footsteps of her famed grandfather

Christine Chavez walks in the footsteps of her famous grandfather, Cesar Chavez, and tonite Christine will visit Clemson University to discuss her recent work to improve the lives of laborers in the country.  Her talk at 6 o’clock in the Thurmond Institute auditorium will open Clemson’s celebration of Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month.  Christine Chavez’s grandfather, Cesar, in the 1960s demanded safer working conditions and fair wages for migrant workers. Today his granddaughter is a voice for that as she works as an outreach coordinator under the USDA where she helps various farmers.
