Chris Moore

Long Creek, SC – Henry Chris Moore, 83, husband of Loran A. Triance Moore, passed away at his home, Sunday, November 5, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born on September, 12, 1940, in Long Creek, South Carolina, Chris was the son of the late Edd and Dorothy Rholetter Moore. Chris worked hard all his life.  After his school years, he worked in Chattanooga, Tennessee with United Communications Company, Inc. in the construction industry for many years.  He then moved to Townsend, Delaware and opened up a heavy equipment construction business and lived there for forty-one years.  He built an outstanding and successful business there serving the counties of that state and surrounding states.  His business included the demolition of large buildings, installing septic tanks, private and public swimming pools, land clearings, grading for new buildings and so many other jobs.  He was very good at what he did and well-experienced in operating heavy construction equipment.  He also had a snow and ice plowing business in the winter months for hospitals, businesses and roadways.  He had a Crab Fishing Business in the Delaware River which he enjoyed very much, as well as a Lawn Care Business for his sons.  He believed in hard work and taught his sons well.  There was not much that Chris could not do.  Chris enjoyed helping people and his work.    In addition to his work, Chris also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends in Delaware and here in the south.  He loved to moose, duck and quail hunt in the Northern States and in Canada.

Chris moved back to South Carolina in 2001 to live and be near his beloved mother and to help his brother, Charles.   He worked awhile with his brother and then went out on his own helping people in the community who needed construction work done until his health began to decline.  He was a good man, a nice neighbor and a good friend to everyone.

Chris was also, a 32nd Degree Mason and Honorary member of Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Lodge in Wilmington, Deleware.  Chris will be greatly missed by his beloved family, his church and his many friends.

Chris is survived by his wife; two sons, Kenneth Moore of Anderson, South Carolina, Cecil Moore (Lee Ann) of Crossville, Tennessee; 1 daughter, Kathy Jo Ward (John) of Henderson, Maryland.; three sisters, Jean Moore Carter of Long Creek, Betty Moore Lovell of Wiley, GA, Kay Moore Harbin (Lewis) of Westminster; and sister-in-law, Kaite Moore of Westminster; two grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
