Chris Carter now Westminster’s sole representative

Westminster leaders have designated their city administrator, Chris Carter, to be their only representative when it comes to negotiations with their electric power wholesaler, the PMPA—the Piedmont Municipal Power Agency. Previously, the city had a second representative to the power consortium of municipalities that is based in Greer. Recently, Mayor Brian Ramey called for a special, retreat-style meeting for city leaders to address issues involving their electric power supply, including the reliability of its delivery system and whether a rate increase might be needed to pay for necessary updates to the system. Ramey told 101.7/WGOG NEWS today: “Mr. Carter is just right now looking into all of our options trying to figure out what’s going to be best long-term for the city. He doesn’t have everything finalized yet, so we don’t have information to share at this time.”
