Charles Ernest Black

Seneca, SC– Charles Ernest Black, 90, husband of Margaret Kirby Black, of Seneca, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Prisma Health Oconee Memorial Hospital.

 

A native of Oconee County, Mr. Black was the son of the late Charlie Davis and Frances Sullivan Black. He retired from Synergy Gas and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Black graduated from the United States Veterans School and was a past deacon at Hopewell Baptist Church in Seneca. He loved to cut grass and garden in the yard and, along with Margaret, loved to go fishing and have fish fries with family and friends. Mr. Black was a gracious, living example of what a true Christian should be to everyone he met.

 

In addition to his wife, Mr. Black is survived by his daughter: Lori Rholetter (Troy) of Seneca; two grandchildren: August Hines (Kenard) and Callie Rholetter; five great-grandchildren: Dajiah Hunter, Tia Jenkins, Jeane Jenkins, Micah Jenkins, and Kaden Jenkins; a great-great grandchild: Mateo Gomez; brothers: Bobby Black of Atlanta, GA and Douglas Black (Jean) of Travelers Rest; and sister: Virginia Arve (Jack) of Walhalla.

 

In addition to his parents, Mr. Black was preceded in death by his son: Charles Michael Black; sisters: Dorothy Black and Hellen Collins; and great-great grandchild: Navy Loggins.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Hopewell Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, prior to the service, at  Hopewell Baptist Church.
