Changes tomorrow for Lake Hartwell rec-reating

The Army Corps of Engineers resumes collecting day-use and boat launching fees starting tomorrow at Lake Hartwell, including the Twin Lakes recreation area in Pickens County.  No longer will cash be accepted.  Automated fee machines have been installed at seven Lake Hartwell locations.  The automated stations, paid for by CARES Act  funding, eliminate the need to collect cash and reduce health concerns.  Fee collections were suspended one year ago, the result of COVID-19 precautions.  South Carolina Corps of Engineers annual passes will be accepted and can be purchased for $40.  Those passes allow unlimited nationwide use at all Corps managed day-use and boat launching locations for a period of 12-months, from the month of purchase.  The federal department also manages less-developed recreations areas that do not charge a fee.
